Regular filter changes keep a Nilan ventilation unit efficient and the indoor air healthy. This guide explains when to change the filters, what the filter classes mean, how to find the right part for your unit, and which other spare parts and accessories we stock.

Why filters matter

According to the Nilan user guide, the main purpose of the filters is to protect the ventilation unit, especially the heat exchanger and the fans, from dust and dirt. Dirty filters mean a poorer indoor climate and higher energy consumption, and they can affect the humidity control of the unit.

How often to change filters

• The control system's filter alarm is set at the factory to 90 days, which suits most installations. Nilan's guide for the Comfort 200 Top lets you set 30, 90, 180 or 360 days, or switch the alarm off.
• Live close to a busy road in a city? You may need to change filters more often. In a rural setting you may not need to change them as often.
• If a pollen filter is installed, its filter area is larger, so it may only need to be changed every second or third time the standard filters are changed, depending on its condition.
• If someone in the household has a pollen allergy, Nilan recommends installing a pollen filter in the outdoor air intake.

How to find the right filter

Nilan filters are unit-specific. The product name in the shop shows the unit it is made for, for example "Comfort 200 Top" or "Comfort CT300". Choose by the unit name and compare the article number with your unit's documentation or the old filter.

Changing the filters (Comfort 200 Top, per Nilan's guide)

1. Switch off the unit on the control panel before opening the door.
2. Release the toggle case catches on the upper door and lift the door off.
3. Remove the two filters and vacuum the filter chambers.
4. Remove the old filter sheet from the filter frame and place the new sheet in the frame, smooth side down.
5. Press the sheet firmly in place and place the filter in the unit with the filter sheet facing upwards.
6. Switch the unit on and press the ALARM icon to reset the warning.

Other units have their own procedure. Always follow the manual of your unit.

Annual maintenance

Besides changing the filters, Nilan recommends cleaning the inside of the unit once a year and, if there is no water trap with a ball, checking the condensate drain every autumn before cold weather: pour water into the condensate tray and check that it drains away.

• How often should I change my Nilan filters? The factory setting of the filter alarm is every 90 days; adjust it to the conditions at your site.
• Do I need a pollen filter? Nilan recommends one if someone in the household has a pollen allergy, installed in the outdoor air intake.
• Can I use any filter? Use the filter made for your unit. Check the unit name in the product title.

Kuidas leida õige filter

Filtrite vahetus (Comfort 200 Top, Nilani juhendi järgi)

1. Lülita seade juhtpaneelil välja enne ukse avamist.
2. Vabasta ülemise ukse riivid ja tõsta uks ära.
3. Võta kaks filtrit välja ja tolmuimeja filtrikambrid.
4. Eemalda vana filtrileht filtriraamist ja pane uus leht raami, sile pool allapoole.
5. Suru leht kindlalt paika ja pane filter seadmesse filtrilehega ülespoole.
6. Lülita seade sisse ja vajuta ALARM-ikoonile hoiatuse nullimiseks.

Iga-aastane hooldus

Lisaks filtrivahetusele soovitab Nilan puhastada seadme sisemust kord aastas ja, kui veelukul puudub kuul, kontrollida igal sügisel enne külmade tulekut kondensaadi äravoolu: vala vett kondensaadivanni ja kontrolli, et see voolab ära.
