DPT differential pressure transmitters measure the pressure difference of air (and non-aggressive gases) in HVAC systems. Typical uses are fan, blower and filter monitoring, pressure and flow monitoring, valve and damper control, and pressure monitoring in cleanrooms. This guide explains how to read the model code and how to choose between the two series we stock: DPT-R8 (analogue output) and DPT-MOD (Modbus).
Why do some documents say HK Instruments? The DPT series was developed by the Finnish company HK Instruments. HK Instruments became part of the Produal group in 2021 (acquired through Produal Holdings), and the DPT transmitters are now sold under the Produal name. That is why many data sheets, manuals and older product labels still carry the HK Instruments name. It is the same product family.

With the R8 models you select the range, the unit (Pa, kPa, mbar, inchWC, mmWC, psi) and the output with jumpers on the device.

How to choose
- Estimate the maximum pressure you will measure and choose the family whose top range covers it with some margin: 250 for low pressures and cleanroom-type applications (the 250 model also has bidirectional ranges), 2500 for filters and fans in typical air handling units, 7000 for higher pressures.
- Check your controller input: a 0–10 V or 4–20 mA analogue input means DPT-R8. A Modbus RTU network means DPT-MOD.
- Autozero (-AZ): zeroes the output automatically every 10 minutes (the adjustment takes 4 seconds and the output is held during that time). You do not need to remove the tubes for zero point calibration. The AZ models have a minimum operating temperature of −5 °C.
- Display (-D): a two-line display shows the measured value and the unit.
- Cold environment (-40C): choose the cold-resistant version. Note that it cannot be combined with autozero.
Check before ordering
- Supply 24 VAC/VDC is available.
- Pressure tubes, fixing screws and duct connectors: the standard delivery of the R8 series includes 2 fixing screws, 2 plastic duct connectors and a 2 m tube (4/7 mm); check the current data sheet.
- Media: dry air or non-aggressive gases only.
- Enclosure: IP54, 90 × 95 × 36 mm.

Kuidas valida
- Hinda maksimaalset rõhku, mida mõõdad, ja vali sari, mille suurim piirkond katab selle väikese varuga: 250 madalate rõhkude ja puhasruumi tüüpi rakenduste jaoks (250 mudelil on ka kahesuunalised piirkonnad), 2500 tavaliste ventilatsiooniseadmete filtrite ja ventilaatorite jaoks, 7000 suuremate rõhkude jaoks.
- Kontrolli kontrolleri sisendit: 0–10 V või 4–20 mA analoogsisend tähendab DPT-R8, Modbus RTU võrk tähendab DPT-MOD.
- Autozero (-AZ): nullib väljundi automaatselt iga 10 minuti järel (reguleerimine kestab 4 sekundit ja väljund on selle aja külmutatud). Torusid ei pea nullpunkti kalibreerimiseks eemaldama. AZ mudelite minimaalne töötemperatuur on −5 °C.
- Ekraan (-D): kaherealine ekraan näitab mõõdetud väärtust ja ühikut.
- Külm keskkond (-40C): vali külmakindel versioon. See ei ühildu autozeroga.
